High Blood Pressure Can Be Lowered By Eating Raisins

High blood pressure can be lowered or normalized turned back by eating raisins. Eat a handful of raisins believed to reduce blood pressure. This is based on the results of a study such as that reported by ScienceDaily.

According to the study, eating raisins three times a day can lower high blood pressure. And as Dr. Harold Bays, a principal investigator and also president director at L - MARC ( Louisville Metabolic and Atherosclerosis Research Center ), that raisins are excellent snacks consumed when compared with crackers and other snacks.

In the study, Dr. Bay and his team conducted a clinical trial to compare the effects of consumption of raisins compared to other snacks on blood pressure. 46 men and women with slightly higher blood pressure ( prehypertension ) of normal blood pressure, has been included in this study.

The participants were randomized and assigned to eat raisins, fruit, and vegetables, which have the number of calories per portion is the same, with a frequency of three times a day for 12 weeks. The blood pressure ( systolic ) people who eat raisins have been reduced at weeks 4,8 , and 12, ranging from -4.8 to -7.2 percent. Based on these studies, addition can reduce systolic blood pressure, apparently raisins also can reduce the average diastolic blood pressure ( bottom ). Besides raisins for snacks such as cakes or biscuits are not able to reduce systolic or diastolic blood pressure significantly.

According to Dr. Bays, natural foods have better health benefits than processed foods. Raisins contain potassium which is believed to lower blood pressure. Additionally, raisins also contain good fiber which serves to change the biochemistry of the blood vessels, and it can reducing blood pressure.
